Scientific Talks

Webinar | October 23rd 2025
17h WET/18h CET/19h EETObesity and diabetes—two of the most widespread and interrelated health challenges of our time.
According to the World Obesity Atlas 2025, over 1 billion adults globally are projected to be living with obesity by 2030, with nearly half of the world’s population affected by overweight or obesity.
1. Obesity is a major risk factor for type 2 diabetes, which has seen a four-fold increase in global prevalence since 1980, now affecting over 500 million people worldwide.
2. These conditions are not only clinical concerns—they are also deeply systemic, contributing to rising healthcare costs, increased morbidity, and reduced quality of life. Yet, both are largely preventable and manageable with the right strategies.
In this session, we will explore:
- The evolving epidemiology of obesity and diabetes,
- The importance of early intervention and integrated care pathways,
- And how healthcare systems can adapt to better support prevention, treatment, and long-term management.
- The role of multidisciplinary collaboration, digital tools, and patient-centered approaches in improving outcomes and reducing the burden of chronic disease.
- Understand the complex relationship between obesity and diabetes, including pathophysiology and epidemiology.
- Recognize evidence-based diagnostic criteria and screening tools for both conditions.
- Evaluate current therapeutic strategies and emerging treatment options tailored for patients with obesity and diabetes.
- Identify common complications associated with diabetes and obesity and develop effective prevention and management plans.
- Enhance collaboration among healthcare providers to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care, by applying the latest clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Implement an integrated care model to improve patient outcomes across multidisciplinary teams.
- Apply the latest clinical guidelines and best practices in obesity and diabetes management within the framework of the Affidea care model.
-
We’ll also highlight that one of the key advantages of implementing this integrated care model is its low logistical complexity and operational simplicity. The approach emphasizes digital engagement, lifestyle coaching, and point-of-care testing—requiring minimal investment in heavy laboratory infrastructure or high-maintenance equipment. This enables scalable deployment across primary care settings, community clinics, and even remote areas, making it both cost-effective and operationally feasible for healthcare systems of varying capacities.
Join us to deepen your understanding and help shape a more proactive, coordinated response to obesity and diabetes—ensuring better care for patients and more sustainable healthcare systems.
