Affidea announces transfer of its Hungary operations to Medicare Group

The Hague, Netherlands, 16th April 2026: Affidea, a leading pan-European provider of community-based polyclinics, specialised services and advanced diagnostics, today announces the transfer of its operations in Hungary to Medicare Group, a well-established local healthcare provider with a strong track record in the Hungarian market.

The transaction covers the entire healthcare business operations in Hungary – private diagnostics and outpatient, as well as the occupational health services, where 480 healthcare professionals deliver high-quality medical services.

As part of the agreement, the operations will continue under the Affidea brand for a transition period up to 12 months, during which the centres will progressively transition to a new, separate brand. This phased approach is designed to ensure continuity for patients, doctors, and partners, maintaining the quality of care and operational stability while enabling a smooth integration into Medicare’s network.

Guy Blomfield, CEO of Affidea Group, Chairman of the Management Board, commented:
“Hungary is where Affidea’s journey began back in 1991, and it holds a unique place in our history. What has been built here through the commitment, professionalism, and clinical excellence of our teams has fundamentally shaped the organisation we are today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues in Hungary for their commitment and dedication over the years. Many of them have been part of Affidea’s journey for more than 30 years, and their contribution has been fundamental to the development of our organisation. This decision reflects a strategic prioritisation of our portfolio. The business in Hungary is entering a new phase, where a strong local healthcare partner is best positioned to take it forward, while Affidea will continue to invest in scaling its integrated, community-based care model across our markets where we see the strongest long-term growth potential and opportunities for our business model. We are confident that Medicare will build on this legacy and continue to deliver high-quality care for patients and communities.”

Razvan Predica, Country CEO for Hungary, Romania, Greece at Affidea, added:
“Hungary has been an important market in building a strong diagnostic and outpatient platform, with trusted relationships across the healthcare ecosystem. What stands out most in Hungary is the strength of our teams and the clinical standards they have consistently delivered. This transition is designed to ensure continuity for our patients, doctors and teams, while enabling the next phase of development under a partner with strong local expertise and a clear commitment to healthcare excellence. We are working closely with Medicare to ensure stability, maintain standards, and support our colleagues during this important transition”.

László Benedek, owner of Medicare Group Hungary, commented: “This transaction marks an important milestone for Medicare. We believe the future of healthcare lies in integrated, patient-centered care, where diagnostics, specialist services and treatment pathways work seamlessly together with private health insurance. In this context, Affidea Hungary’s strong clinical quality makes it a compelling strategic fit.

With its international experience and long healthcare track record, as well as its professional, dedicated team and cutting-edge diagnostic technology, Affidea introduces a specialized clinical expertise that integrates perfectly into our operations. Together, we aim to improve access to high-quality and reliable care, while building a scalable platform in Hungary and beyond. We are pleased to welcome Affidea’s medical and professional teams and see strong alignment in our shared focus on clinical excellence, patient care and innovation, providing a solid foundation for future growth.”
