In July 1998, Affidea began activities in the Republic of Srpska, one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in June 2011, the company divested its dialysis business.

In parallel with the dialysis business, Affidea also began providing cancer treatment services in Bosnia in August 2010 in the state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Center in Banja Luka. The work on establishing this center started in 2008 after an international tender was completed where Affidea was selected as the most favorable bidder. The contract with the local authorities was signed in November that same year, while the groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 9, 2009, after all construction permits were acquired. Just 11 months later, the center was built from the ground up, containing all required architectural, functional and operational elements.

The Center has three operational bunkers for teletherapy and one for brachytherapy, all equipped with Varian Medical Systems equipment. Current capacities are sufficient for provision of services to more than 1,800 new patients annually .

The center routinely performs 3DCRT, IMRT/IGRT, Rapid Arc and brachytherapy and prides itself as the leader in the region, moving the boundaries in cancer treatment services.
